Concepts for Texas Hold’em

Concepts for Texas Hold'em Poker bookHave you ever wanted to play Texas Hold’em in a casino, but were afraid to? You know the basic rules, but it always seemed so intimidating. The vocabulary, the customs? The other players appeared so much more experienced than you feel. Well, it’s time to do something about that.

In 2022, I released a new book, Concepts for Texas Hold’em. I wrote this because I have a few buddies who know the basics of the game, but not some of the intricacies. This is NOT geared for someone learning the very basics of Hold’em (what hands beat what, basic strategies, etc.).

There are plenty of books out there that will teach you that. If you want that, send me an email, and I can send a list of ones I would recommend.

The book itself is short and easy to read, only about 70 pages. It’s not designed to be Hemingway, it’s more of a pocket reference of concepts, notes, thoughts, and strategies on making more money at Texas Hold’em Poker tables in casinos. If you are familiar with the game and want to be able to play in a casino with more confidence, this is the book for you.

From tactics to use at the table, to money management, to etiquette & terminology, Concepts for Texas Hold’em will steer you toward bigger profits from your poker sessions. Aimed at players who want to ‘up’ their game, we skip over the basics of the game to focus on tips, common concepts, and thoughts on how to make the most from your play.

Written by Paul K. Metheney who is NOT a full-time, professional, poker player and does not consider himself an expert.

“I think of myself as a perpetual student. I have played poker all over the United States and Caribbean for the last 20+ years. I wrote Concepts for Texas Hold’em as a helpful set of notes for some buddies who want to know more about playing Hold’em, but haven’t spent decades reading the books, or watching videos, or playing in casinos. They wanted the CliffsNotes version. As a writer, I thought I might be able to help them.”

You will learn about the phrases: Buying the Button, Chopping, Straddling, the Rake, Limping In,
and much, much more! Other sections will cover concepts such as Evaluating Situations, Misc. Odds, Strategy, and references to helpful books. From tactics to use at the table, to money management, to etiquette & terminology, Concepts for Texas Hold’em will steer you toward bigger profits in your poker sessions.
